Laboratory Quality / Accreditation / Safety & Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the quality, accreditation and safety functions of laboratory services. Collaboration with Technical resource in policy development and implementation; sourcing and testing of equipment and procedures; ensuring compliance with all safety, regulatory and accreditation requirements; and managing special projects under the guidance of the Laboratory Operations Director, including but not limited to new service line development, processes when initiated.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains appropriate policies and procedures for the Laboratory System.
- Supports and communicates Laboratory initiatives and philosophiesthose.
- Collaborates with Subject Matter Expert (SME) for laboratory procedures, processes and instruments and acts as the technical expert in the SME absence.
- Collects, collates and reports quality data for all Laboratory functions and; saction
- Assists with competency assessment throughout all Laboratories as necessary.
- Assists Director with the maintenance of System Level policies and procedures, including the development of new policies and procedures, periodic review/of existing policies and procedures, and also works with Laboratory Leaders to manage local policies.
- Manages Quality Control products and data for the system, assisting Managers, Supervisors and Lead Techs as necessary.
- Collaborates and work with SME with searches new tests, technology and instruments.
- Monitors, reviews and audits all safety procedures and practices of system-wide labs.
- Trains and educates all laboratory employees on safety procedures.
- Oversees and coordinates Laboratory safety projects and initiatives.
- Is familiar with and meets/exceeds all regulatory standards and performance of proficiency testing.
- Promotes a culture of process improvement by establishing quality based programs that supports the system’s process improvement goals.
- Works with other departments using and promoting Lean processes to improve patient care.
Successful candidates will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology program from an accredited institution
- MLS/MT ASCP, AMT or other national accreditation.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in high complexity clinical laboratory
- 2+ years’ experience as a Technical Supervisor or Quality Supervisor/Manager
- Exceptional problem-solving skills. knowledge of Lean or Process Improvement tools desired.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer skills and working knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
